PRODUCTION DESIGNER (ANIMATION)

Job Description

The Production Designer establishes the visual aesthetic of the animation, designing environments, characters, and props that define the project's world. They create color palettes, mood boards, and detailed sketches to guide the art team. This role involves close collaboration with the director to align designs with the story's tone and themes. The Production Designer oversees the integration of designs into production pipelines and ensures consistency across scenes. They research historical or fantastical elements for authenticity and adapt designs based on technical feedback. Expertise in art fundamentals, software tools, and creative problem-solving is essential.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in art-related roles for animation film or 3D film/TV projects, with experience in art management for at least one full-length animation film project.

• Excellent artistic skills and visual aesthetics, with a deep understanding of narrative language and camera expression in animation film.

• Ability to accurately define the overall visual style based on the script and project positioning, with experience in managing art direction across multiple styles and themes.

• Proficient in mainstream design tools (e.g., Photoshop, Blender, SketchUp, Procreate) and familiar with 3D workflows and technical constraints.

• Strong organizational, communication, and team management skills, capable of efficiently coordinating cross-departmental resources.
